Ágora Romana: Entry Ticket + Digital Hellenic Heritage Guide
Description
Explore the ancient public square that's still a Roman period masterpiece
Experts believe that the Roman Agora was first founded between 19 BC and 11 BC. So, it's pretty old! This ticket gets you into the place once commissioned by the first Roman Emperor Augustus and enlarged by the influential Emperor Hadrian.
The “Tower of the Winds”, found on the western side of the Agora, is practically intact. This polygonal monument sheathed in marble slabs was built during the second century BC, and was used as a water clock and sundial.
Step back in time as you wander the giant courtyard, which was once the site of a bustling central marketplace. Let your imagination run wild as you picture the marble colonnades and patio in all their former glory - they just don't make markets like they used to!
