Bali: Melasti Beach Kecak Dance Show

01:00 Hours

Description

Discover the coastal culture, rhythmic harmony, and mythical narratives

Watch the Kecak dance, featuring various acrobatic performances, while enjoying the beautiful sunset at Melasti Beach. This show highlights the rhythmic brilliance of the traditional Balinese Kecak dance. Engage in lively storytelling as rhythmic chants and dynamic movements depict Balinese folklore. The Kecak dance was created in the 1930s by Balinese artist Wayan Limbak and German painter Walter Spies. It was inspired by the Sanghyang dance, a sacred Balinese ritual performed in Hindu temples to ward off misfortune and illness. Traditionally, Kecak was performed only by men aged 50 and older. The name comes from the “cak, cak, cak” chant repeated throughout the performance. In the past, it was performed in specific places, including Bona Village in Gianyar Regency. Today, Kecak is performed across Bali, especially at cultural tourist sites and during events to welcome visitors.
