Cappella dei Bianchi: Guided Tour of “Il Figlio Velato” by Jago

00:20 Hours

Description

See works by artists like Giordano and view marble sculptures by Jago

Visit the Cappella dei Bianchi to see artworks by Giordano, Fracanzano, and Vaccaro. Along the side walls, twelve canvases depict stories of Saint Anthony. The ceiling features four large paintings: The Eternal Father, The Virgin with Child and Saints, The Immaculate Conception, and Saint Francis. In 2019, the sculpture "The Veiled Son" by Jago was installed. Carved from a single block of marble, this piece shows a child covered by a veil, symbolizing the death of innocent children today. This piece draws inspiration from Giuseppe Sammartino's "The Veiled Christ," which highlights a man's sacrifice for the community. Jago's work represents contemporary realities, prompting reflection on often overlooked images.
