Comptoir des Mines Galerie: Guided Tour

Description

View the restored architectural details and walk through art exhibits

Built in 1932, this 1,500 m2 Art Deco building originally housed the Comptoir des Mines, a trading company for mining products. The space was designed with offices, apartments, and warehouses, spreading over two wings, two floors, and includes an attached hangar. After being abandoned in the 1990s for over two decades, it was repurposed for the 2016 Marrakesh Biennale, assuming a new function. The preserved Art Deco features, including terrazzo flooring and walls, staircases, and windows, create a unique atmosphere. Since the gallery's establishment, restoration has carefully adhered to its original style, incorporating period switches, chandeliers, and doors. Further renovations in 2023 and 2024 opened spaces to bring in light and depth.
