La Orotava: Guided Tour with Gofio Tasting
Description
Take a tour called "Los Molinos de la Villa" and learn about the hydraulic heritage still present in the streets of northern Tenerife and the staple food of the Canary Islands, gofio, which has a history of five centuries.
These mills used the power of water to grind roasted grain. Ten mills remain, situated along a pathway marked by an old water channel that once connected them. Along this route, you will also find old public washhouses and watering places, now regarded as ethnographic treasures.
On this tour, you'll see the mills and learn about their function. Visit La Orotava, where two of these mills continue to operate. Watch their wheels in action and taste traditional gofio.
