Discover the quiet, authentic beauty of Etten-Leur, a peaceful North Brabant town forever linked to Vincent van Gogh—who lived here as a young man in 1881, drew his first serious works, and fell in love with his cousin Kee Vos-Kuijk—where the charming Van Goghplein square and the modest Van Gogh House museum commemorate his early artistic beginnings with reproductions, letters, and stories of his time in the village. Stroll the serene canals and green parks that give the town its relaxed, green character, explore the historic Sint Lambertus Church with its striking tower, visit the lively weekly market for fresh regional produce and Brabant specialties, or simply enjoy the gentle pace of Dutch village life with cozy cafés, bike paths, and the warmth of local Brabant hospitality—all just 20 minutes from Breda and perfectly positioned for day trips to the Biesbosch National Park or the historic city of Antwerp.
Savor fresh Brabant apple pie, hearty stamppot with rookworst, and crisp Belgian beers amid friendly smiles, canal reflections, and the unmistakable sense of a place where Vincent van Gogh once dreamed of becoming an artist.
Etten-Leur isn’t just a destination—it’s the peaceful, authentic Brabant village where Van Gogh took his first artistic steps—plan your Etten-Leur escape today!
